Beach Bumming at the Baltic Sea

Another week of teaching has gone by and I can't believe that I'm already here writing another blog post!
Remember how I got sick last week? Well these cuties made, along with Emma, made me a get well soon card. Best thing ever!
This weekend we took a little excursion to Klaipeda, a little city in Lithuania located along the Baltic Sea. It was gorgeous and we literally laid out on the beach ALL weekend! I felt so refreshed and I didn't want to leave.
We made it to Klaipeda!
Cute little port city in Lithuania located on the Baltic Sea.
The town itself was really cute and quaint, but not very populated like I expected it to be. It's a port city so we had to take the ferry to get the side that is considered the beach. It was a short ride however and very enjoyable.

We took a ferry over to the beach, such a gorgeous day!
The water was freezing, but laying atop the sand out in the sun... was fantastically warm. I loved it!

Notice all the different beach signs, anything out of the ordinary? Why yes, the bottom right is for the nude beach. Oh Europe... :)

There has never been more delicious ice-cream than from this cute little lady stationed on the pathway to the beach. Waffle cones, they're the bee's knees!

Lithuania 2013! LOVE it here!

Jumping pictures... as always :)

On Sunday we rented bikes and rode around town and then back down to the beach. I loved it so much! It made me want a bike for Vilnius and for back home in Utah. I could ride them everywhere!

We crashed a race with our rented bikes and as we crossed the finish line "We Are the Champions" was playing.
This guy really wanted to take a picture with us. What can I say, it was great.
I got another ice-cream cone... Okay okay I mean I got two more ice-cream cones. They were so good!

A lovely day at the beach with our bikes

The Baltic Sea... so lovely
We haven't officially been to a city without one of these beauts! Thanks for the relaxing weekend Klaipeda!

I have had a lot of people recently ask me why in the world I am in Lithuania. Am I just traveling? Am I serving a mission for the LDS church? Have I lost my mind and decided to live in a foreign country for four months? Well a little bit of the first and the last one and although I have my papers in for a mission and should be getting my call this week (whoo!), that's not why I am here. I'm here, in the marvelous country of Lithuania, teaching English with a program known as The International Language Program (ILP). ILP is a non-profit organization aimed at helping "children receive the best language education possible." They have schools not only in Lithuania but in Russia, Ukraine, China, Mexico, and Thailand too.

Love love love ILP! Photo credit: ILP.org

Let me tell you right now, ILP has been one of the greatest decisions I have ever made. Teaching can be hard and the kids a bit exhausting, but it is oh so rewarding and I wouldn't trade this experience for anything! If you want to find out more you can check out their website at ILP.org, like their facebook page, follow them on pinterest, read their blog, or just ask me. :)
